The Journey Timeline

Most people heard about my story on social media but they only caught a piece of it really. Even most of my close friends aren’t aware of everything Matt and I went through together and there is a lot I still don’t know about what he went through before I met him.

My mom and I talk about this “timeline” a lot. It helps us understand and filter through that tough road we navigated. It also helps us realize how strong my husband was both physically and mentally. I want to tell the story to the best of my ability because his life meant something and it was all worth it.

April 14th 2007-met Matt

2009 Graduated College

May of 2010- Bought our first home

2010 late summer/fall- 1st surgery, total colectomy by Dr. Harzman

2011 Springtime- 2nd major surgery the colectomy reversal

July 2011- We got engaged in Ft. Myers Florida

September 7th 2012- got married at North Bank Columbus Ohio

December 14, 2014- Matt was admitted to OSU for Jaundice ,later found there was a tumor on the bileduct and could be removed by surgery(Didn’t know at this point of it was cancer or not)

December 2014- Diagnosed with Bileduct cancer

January 2015- 3rd major surgery, Whipple procedure

December 2016- Meeting with a fertility specialist led the doctor to finding a tumor on my ovary I had surgery that month

February 2016-Find out was are expecting a baby (both over the moon and very surprised!)

May 2016- Matt was admitted to the ER for back pain, scans showed that the cancer had come back and spread to many different locations

November 2016- Welcomed a healthy baby boy! Matt had been on chemo for several months it was keeping the cancer stable

Late April 2017- Matt had to stop the chemo treatment he was on because he was suffering nerve pain. They told us to look for clinical trials

July 2017- took our family vacation to Ft. Myers

August 7th- Matt lost his battle to cancer
